Description
Schizachyrium Colorado
Long beautiful, tough and delicate, modern and adaptable.
The beautiful compact and upright Colorado prairie grass, with its fine-structured graceful blue-gray foliage in summer, will create beautiful vertical accents in the garden or border and on any balcony, patio or terrace. Schizachyrium Colorado stands out in combination with other ornamental grasses, such as panicum, and its upright growth makes it irreplaceable among all kinds of perennials in the border.
Colorado is an undemanding modern ornamental grass that is beautiful every season.
The blue-gray leaves change color in autumn, depending on the location and conditions, to beautiful red-copper, purple-red and rust-orange hues, together with the initially blue-green hues, a fascinating palette, which, together with the inflorescences, continues to glow in winter for a long time. Flowering is later in summer, the inflorescences are delicate, turning translucent and silvery when they dry. Long upright with the blade; a beautiful silhouette in winter.
Thrives best in full sun, in somewhat lighter, moderately rich and well-drained soil. Ground cover better with gravel or (lava) split, than with bark.
Height 60-90 cm. Very hardy.
This variety is managed by CNB New Plants.
